I could not create without the influence of the art forms that I love....sculpture, architecture and dance. My decades spent dancing formed an intuitive sense of space that informs all my designs. The power of words and getting lost in a story whether on the page, the screen or the stage invariably sparks my imagination. Taking the time to notice the innate sculptural forms in nature always inspires. These moments of immersing myself in art are stored away as memories....at some point they coalesce and then I can create.
Handmade work is a slow art. The fleeting joy of a finished design is well worth the often difficult path of creation. More soon...
"Artists are intuitive. They wait for inspiration. That's what art is about, the intuitive, not the intellectual. Art about ideas stimulates ideas, but art that comes from inspiration stimulates feelings of happiness, innocence and beauty." — Agnes Martin
